I ordered some 700gr. AP bullets from Pats reloading a couple of months ago. I've ordered from them before but this time the AP bullets looked like they were tumbled to polish them up. No black tips on them and very clean.  I dont know if they accidently sent me regular FMJ ball bullets or if they tumbled the AP bullets which took the black paint off .
I saw a thread on here before where someone showed how to tell the difference but I cant find it !!! Need Help

The Ball projectiles have a knerled cannelure and the AP have a smooth cut cannelure. The Ball projectile also has lead in the base and the AP is steel, just the back of the hardened core.

Very simple difference.  If they are M33 ball, they'll have a knurled cannelure.  If they are M2AP, they'll have a smooth CUT cannelure.  Also, the jacket on an M2AP is swaged around the core.  On an M33 ball, the bullet base is closed with a lead plug.

Thanks Guys , I thought they were AP bullets , I guess Pats Reloading is really cleaning the bullets up now. THey look really good even though you cant get rid of the pull marks. I'll just spray paint the black tips back on them after I load them !!!
