| I finally got a call from MGS: my number was up for a GSG5. So when he called me I had to find an ffl ASAP. Problem was that the only ffl open wont transfer guns he can get. I didn't want to try and order it through him and get stuck with a 6 week wait. I gave it a try to see if he'd xfer it for me anyways. Well when I walked in and asked he said "no, but I'll sell you the one I got in about an hour ago". $435.00 later I was walking out with a smile. I did call the guy at MGS and explain what happened, I'm sure he wont have a problem selling the one that was for me anyways lol. I'll buy something from them in Tulsa to make things kosher. I cant wait to shoot it, thinking about playing hookie tomorrow |
| Good find iam sure there is a lot of people that wish they walked in on that deal. I had a little luck like that with my local dealer just walked in and asked and they told me they would have two on monday and only one was spoken for and i got the other one. Been on a waiting list for 2 mnth with two other dealers and still no call from them. But after shooting it today iam going to buy one more when it comes in. |
| I was skeptical, but I did my homework before ordering from mgs, and I look forward to shooting it. The dealer I got it from is a great guy to deal with, I've probably bought 20 guns from him. IMO its the best place in the St. Louis area. He gave me a hard time (jokingly) for not asking him if he could get it first. I just didn't think it was that kind of shop, mostly hunting stuff nothing tacticool (if there is I'm usually the one who buys it). FWIW it was 435 plus tax, 460.67 w/ tax. |

Well, I shot it today...I like it but I'm not happy with it right now. It shoots way high; like have to aim a foot low high, reguardless of which setting on the sight you use. At probably 20 yds I shot 3'' groups from a standing position. not the greatest but i was also estimating where thigs would hit and shooting somewhat fast at times. I ordered an optics rail for it last night anyway. I'll slap a clonepoint on it and hopefully that'll fix that. I shot 500 rds through it, had probably 10 failure to fire (it wasnt cocking, but still feeding a new round) and 1 fail to feed. I used various ammo types, it sure likes the aquila super extra. I also experienced a few times the bolt hold open didn't work. It had failures throughout all ammo types, sub, target, hyper and of all brands eley, federal, winchester, aquila etc. I'm starting to think maybe I have a bad magazine, maybe making a lot of drag and slowing the bolt to the extent that it doesnt cock?. It ran best when I was shooting fast, momentum maybe? I dunno but I'm gonna run some more through it to break her in further before I worry myself sick. I absolutely loved it when I was shooting it the people talking about how quiet the supressor on my MP5 was. There was some choad there who acted like he was the local expert. He let me know that supressors are Illegal for the public to posess in Missouri. I couldn't ruin my fun so I thanked him for his concern and resumed firing. I'll try to shoot tomorrow after work, weather permitting, and update's will follow. |
when you had the failures were you holding onto the mag? have to make sure that you dont use the mag as a forgrip or you WILL have probs |
| no I made sure not to, one of the times the BHO didnt work I cycled it manually a few times to make surei didnt bump it w/ my hand or anything. I had to drop the mag and put it back in to get it to work again. I'm going to tulsa this weekend, I'll try and pick up a few mags there. |

The only time my BHO didn't work on my GSG-5 was after putting 1000+ rounds through it without cleaning. I noticed the BHO wasn't working all of a sudden, I manually worked the BHO lever from the open bolt area of the receiver and it was gritty. The grit was holding the lever in the down position. No fault of the gun, just time for a cleaning. BTW, I squirted some Militec in there and loosened it up a bit. We continued to shoot another couple of hundred rounds through it. In any case, it's time for a cleaning. |
Let us know if that solved the problem. |
| She's runnin' now!!! I got some of the centurion (I think) High velocity stuff and she ran without a flaw for another 500. I guess I dirtied her up quite a bit with that match stuff. I would say its at least twice the grime of shooting standard federal, so no more good stuff for the gsg5, not a bad thing though. Still shooting way high, I'm gonna shim the rear sight this weekend and see what that does for the high impact. Thanks for the help guys, Anthony |
Dont you want to move the rear sight in the direction you want the impact to arrive? (meaning- if you want it to hit lower, move the rear site lower) and visaversa for the front sight? or do I have that assbackwards? |
bassackwards .......... to move the impact up lower the front site ...... to move the impact up raise the rear |
