Just talked with the smith-my Marlin 39A that I took for rebluing has been done for a while-he was one I forgot to give my new phone number to when I changed it. Now I'm stuck at home in bad weather . Note to self-be more careful with old guns on gunbroker to avoid favorite models being stuck with a gunsmith. Pics dodn't show that the rifle had been cold-blued. Oh, well. $299 shipped, $20 FFL fee. Several hours to redo the stock by me to look right with new bluing and $35 for a hot tank blue job. Not a horrible price for a 1950"s 39A(M serial number prefix) but unplanned work. The Remington 121 in this link was reblued by the same person. Does it as a hobby to supplement his retirement(the income must be little to nothing, by the time chemicals and heating the tanks come into play he's got to be just about breaking even). Two or three month turnaround, but for the price it's well worth the wait. I was quoted $175 to reblue a 39A from Ahlman's in Minnesota and thought that would be a good price considering the work involved. $140 AND 1 1/2 hour drive time saved.
