What is the ideal % of humidity that I should try to keep my gun safe and room at? I have a large Liberty safe with a golden rod and dessicant pack, in the room that it sets in is a 30 pint dehumidifier. Right now, I have no problem keeping it at 30-35% humididty in the safe and room. Is this enough or should it be more? Thanks.

30% is probably fine, but I know hardwood floor companies recomment between 40%-45% to avoid the wood drying out.

You shouldn't have any rust issues as long as it's under about 60%.

Thanks for the info. I will dial my dehumidifier back to around 40%.

I live in FL and keeping mine at 50% is not easy to do. I think 40% is a very good number to be at.

Normal range for a house is 40-60%.

I like to keep my 'gun room' at 40%. No issues noted so far.

I'm sure you could go lower as long as you aren't concerned about drying out wood stocks as another poster alluded to.

Honestly, I have no idea what the 'ideal' range is.
