Has anyone used this method of load testing?

I found mention of this method on the Enos website.

Here is a pdf on it.

Thanks for posting that article. Definitely worth reading. It was very interesting. I have never heard of that process for determining loads for accuracy. I will definitely try it out with a couple rifles. It could keep me busy for a while!

Thanks for posting this.  I had read this a couple of years back, but had lost it.  Thanks.

This is very similar to the 'Ladder' method, and what I've often seen reference to on the internet as a variant call the OCW  (Optimum Charge Weight) method.  The reasoning behind all three is the same.

I gotta give these methods more attention.  Numbering the individual shots at a range with other shooters has been keeping me from exploring this further.

Seems to be a great excuse for a day off of work! ;)

Yeah it is also referred to as the Ladder Method.

Here is another webpage where you can actually see the graphs better.

I have used this method and I feel it works very well.  I hadn't read this particular write up before, but as stated above, have read similar.

Here's the link to what I have used.

Good luck.

Thanks for the link.

That article has some good stuff too.

Most of what I have read is dealing with 308 and supposedly this works the best at ranges over 100 yards but what about when you want to test a light 223 round like a 55 grainer?

I am going to test this theory using .1 grain increments and 20 loads of each powder.

The powders are Varget, RE7, RE15, and H335 with WSR primers and CCI Magnums for the H335.

I'm curious to see how this turns out.

I did my first test of this method today and it is very interesting.

Bullets - 55 FMJ BT bulk and not weighed
Brass - LC fired multiple times and trimmed to 1.74 and rezied with RCBS X-Die
Powders - RE7 and H335
Primer - WSR for the RE7 and CCI 450 for the H335
Press - Dillon 650 (resized, primed, seated bullets, and crimp with FCD
Range - 100 yards with occiasional left to right wind
Charges were weighed individually on an RCBS 1500 didgital scale
