So I asked this question over at rimfirecentral and I'm either too stupid to even garner mocking replies or my post count of 1 just makes people not want to bother...

I bought a set of firesights for my 10/22.  It's one of the previous models that has the barrel band.  I've got 2 questions.

The front and rear sights came off in opposite directions.  Front came off right to left, but the rear came off left to right.  Is that normal/right?

Second is the firesight has no documentation in the package or online and I'm not sure about the sight's orientation.  I'm guessing the front of the site is the sloped part?  I have to remove a little material from the base as it doesn't fit regardless of the direction I try to get it started so I want to be sure I've got the correct orientation before I start 'adjusting' it.

Thanks.

IIRC, 10/22's are not picky about the direction they come in or go out, so what ever works for you.  I don't have fire sights, but one end of the front sight should be a brightly glowing  ball when you look at it.  That is the end you want pointing at your eye.  The other side ( the "sloped" side?) will most likely not glow.  That is the side that goes towards the muzzle.

Be careful not to remove too much or the sight will be loose. I drifted mine in with a brass drift.

Thanks guys.

I should have been a little more specific, what I call the slope is actually in the metal of the sight, not the insert.  Very much like the stock sight is sloped in the front while the end facing you is flush.

shadowcop: I hear ya about removing too much.  I believe I only need to get rid of enough so I can get the thing started.  As it stands now, I can't get it in at all to try drifting it.

Thanks again.
