Team, Work sent me on a VERY interesting trip last week. I was able to tour the General Dynamics facility at Saco Maine. I was able to see several COOL guns being assembled! M-61A1 and A@ 20MM Cannons 50 Caliber Gatling guns and the good ole Ma Deuce, the M-2 To top things off, I was allowed to literally "Break the Cherry" on a new M-2. The gun had just been assembled and they were doing proof & accuracy firing. I was allowed to pull the trigger for the proof firing! Also I was able to tour their firing facilites. I was able to witness firing of the next gen 50 cal machine gun (the one that started as a 25mm), as well as a Navy CIWS test. Awesome trip! It was really awesome to see the machinery that is necesary for hammer-forging, barrel turning, and parkerizing up close! The only bad thing is NO PICS! |
