26" 1:7 White Oak barrel custom-ordered with a threaded muzzle and M4 ramps, Troy MRF-RX, Stag upper and lower, PRS stock.  The can is for .22LR, obviously I wouldn't shoot it with that attached, but I will be picking up a .223 can for it and wanted an idea of scale.  Only thing still missing are a BCG and optics before I can go explode some groundhogs with it.  Eventually I'll add a nice bipod and maybe an accu-shot.

LOL You need a bayonet at the end to finish it off.  Nice rifle by the way.

Should balance well.

Please don't take this as a flame, but isn't anything over 20-22 inches actually counter productive?  I was under the impression that that was the optimum length for 5.56/.223 and anything longer would actually slow the round down from friction.  Like I said, no flame intended, just curious.

All cartridges have a maximum "optimal" barrel length after which the bullet is actually slowed by the friction.  This optimum length, however, varies with load.  Fast burning powders do better in shorter barrels, and vice-versa.  Most factory loads, though, do not max out in a 20-22" barrel.  24" barrels get more velocity with identical factory loads, so it isn't even 24".  I'll be launching very heavy pills with it (75-77gr most of the time) so more barrel length is needed to get "varmint velocity".  I'd like to hit 3200fps with a 75gr Hornady A-max and I think it's possible with the right powder.
