How to properly use NODS?

Finally placed a order with TNVC. It will be several weeks until I get everything. I've been watching YouTube vids, but still have questions. See below

How it should be adjusted to your eye? Eye cup resting against the eye, or slightly away from the eye?

Adjustments of the controls and functions? Focusing, gain etc?

It's pretty intuitive IMO. You will see when you play around with it.

The main thing to know is that you set the rear focus to focus on the screen until its sharp, and then don't mess with it. Front focus is adjusted continously depending on what you want to look at.

Some of the "best" training that you can get is free...seriously, just do ordinary tasks with the NODs on.

A couple of things that will teach you an awful lot about depth perception when adjusted for other than infinity focus are simply tying your bootlaces, or even better driving a 16p nail into a couple 2x4s.

Your weapon systems management, including malfunction clearing, should all be by pure feel before you go do live fire in the dark.  A good way to practice that is with your eyes closed or in a pitch black space without NODs, using cold weapons.

If not already the case, your gear will be saved in your pack so that you can get to every item by pure feel without "looking" for anything.

I had the same questions when I got my set up. I went aheadand order the NV skills builder DVD featuring chappy. Was pretty informative, might want to check it out.
