Been to shoot the new STG 556 twice now, once today. I find it really accurate and a joy to shoot except for one thing. The charging handle is really hard to pull back, almost impossible at times. I have to pull back so hard, it feels like I'm going to break it. The bolt group got stuck in a rearward spot a few times when trying to load it. I re-charged it and that freed it up but it still feels like something could be binding. If I have a mag in the gun and the charging handle locked back, it will try to feed two rounds at once when I go to load it. I had to free it up twice when two bullets got stuck in the chanber from being jammed in there.
Other than that, it shot beutifully, really accurate, no firing or ejection issues. Does it sound like something is wrong? The pressure it takes to charge it really is excessive. i was using Federal 223, 55 gr FMJ. I have about 100 rounds through it so far. |

It will smooth out with use. If it is functioning, it should be good to go. Let me know what it feels like after 30 rounds. Give me a call if you have any questions. Ok thank you guys for the responses. I put about 100 rounds through it and couldn't tell much difference but I will put some more rounds through it and try the technique the other guys mentioned. If the charging handle is pulled back and resting in the catch, then I load a full mag, should it load one in the chamber when the charging handle is let forward again? Mine would try to load two when I did that. |
