LC Brass, Hornady 55gr FMJBT, and 25 grains of H335. I have a 14.5" middy that is short stroking on this load using both an H buffer and a car buffer.

That seems to be about the normal load for 55 gr fmjbt.
That should be working just fine.

That load should operate an AR-15 without incident.

Have you tried factory ammo in it?  Try to get a box of ammo loaded to .223 pressures and see if it does the same thing.

That doesn't sound too mild to me either.

Yes the only factory ammo I have is Winchester 5.56 Q3131 though, the rifle did function with it.  I have five other rifles that function with the load I stated above and lighter loads, two of them are midlengths too.

Same here.

Is your gas port aligned correctly with the gas block?
Is your gas key firmly attached to the carrier?

Yes, I thinking maybe your gas block is not on right.

I checked the gas key, it is firmly attached and staked properly. I have not pulled apart anything to closely look at the gas block yet. From what I can see through the handguards all looks gtg. The upper and bcg were bought from a highly respected vendor.

I'm using 24.3 with 55FMJ in my carbine with no problems. I had short stroke issues with my 20" barrel when I put the colapsable stock on it,  long gas tube didn't allow enough preasure to fully cycle.

I use this same load (H335) in my HBAR II
No issues
