Does anyone on here have a current production Ithaca 37 Defense model? The one with the 20" fixed barrel, preferably with the 8 shot magazine.

I am familiar with the older M37s, where the magazine could not be extended without relocating the barrel lug, but I am curious if there is anything to stop you from putting an extension on one of the fixed barrel models bumping the gun up to 9+ rounds or more?

Website says it comes in 5 or 8 round capacities. I'd just get the 8 round to start with

Yeah. I glimpsed one in a Mike Lamb video and now the idea of one is stuck in my head. I have a 20 gauge Featherlight, and my father has owned several different 12 gauge models over the years. If there isn't a way to push the capacity over 8, I will probably end up looking into one of the fixed barrel lug 8 round models, either used or as a custom order from Ithaca.

The new ones are pricey! A used one might be your best bet.
