So has anyone tried this buffer yet. Kinda interested to see if it really makes a difference.

YMMV,  I guess

This gun needs a buffer?
I found the recoil to be mild. The only problem I have is my nose gets bumped by the stock every once in a while cause the irons are low for me.

The PTR91 doesn't really need something different than the standard steel/spring buffer it comes with. They already reduced the recoil compared to the HK91 by reducing the flutes in the chamber.

Not all the JLD guns have come with the standard G3 buffer( below on left). I have seen some with the "comfort" buffer shown above. I don't know why.

The standard G3 buffer was the proper military contract buffer used by HK licensees' who were building G3's. Hence FMP was making them and they were probably part of the parts bought by JLD.

At the end of its commercial life HK had begun to switch to the heavy G3 buffer ( below right). These are good to find.

If the 91's recoil is really bothersome to you, don't mess with the "action" of the gun by installing a non-spec buffer doodad.  I don't think anyone has ever heard of a 91 rifle beating itself apart from recoil, just the shooter.    Install a cushy HK21 rubber buttpad instead.   They run anywhere from $50-70 depending upon who has them.

Definitely money well spent!

I ordered one. I'll let you know in a week or so when I get it installed and out to the range.

I got my comfort buffer in from JLD, and i am going to install it so I can give it a try at the range this weekend. Is there any trick to swapping this part out other than just unscrewing a couple of
screws? I want to make sure I am not in for a surprise like I was when I removed my FAL buttstock.

That damned FAL spring almost killed me, and putting it back in without the special
tool was worse than herding cats.
