I took out my DSA STG58a earlier today, ran about 100 rounds of Australian through it. I had read here to adjust the gas setting open to minimum level where it would still eject. I had it initially set on 4 , raised it to 5, then 6, then 6.5, then wide open at 7. It was still ejecting the rounds but only throwing them about 10" instead of way out there as before. Recoil was noticeably easier but accuracy was the same. Is this normal?

thanks

Not only normal, but exactly what you want and how its designed.

I agre with that, that is how you want to tune it in.  That gives gives you plenty of room for adjustment in adverse conditions.

Thannks for the answers, I had thought that when it was opened all the way it would only shoot single shot. It still functions/cycles smoothly but just puts the brass in a neat little pile about 10" out at four o'clock. With the exception of the trigger, what's not to like about these guns?

We always run a pool at the range to see who has the neatest pile of brass after we shoot.  I win nearly all the time.  Aussie FMJ surp, run on 7.  I can put 10 pieces of brass in about a 6" radius pile.

The more I run my STG, the more I am impressed with this weapon.  Trigger..oh well...everything else is near perfect.  I love it.
