I'm confused on what type of 44 mag bullets to buy? I want to use 240 grain but they have different sizes and different types. What should I be looking for and the best place to buy? I will also be doing 357 and 45acp.

Please read the Read Before You Post thread highlighted in red at the top of the page.

Posting "where to find" questions gets your thread locked, as we have a tacked thread at the top of the page for that.

Which bullet? Depends on what your goal is.

Lowest cost?

Light target load?
Medium plinking load?

Full power, hunting?

This determines if a cast, plated or jacketed bullet would serve your needs.

I suggest you get a copy of ABC's of Reloading and read it to learn more about component choice.

Also a Lyman 49 reloading manual and read the first part to learn how to reload. Each of these books are about $20.

The top of the forum is full of good info also.

New reloader I suggest keeping it simple and using jacketed bullets. You'll see 240 grain jacketed 44 Magnum bullets saying .429" diameter along with .429.5" and .430" diameter. All are appropriate for 44 magnum. I

shoot Hornady 240 gr. XTP's which are .430" diameter in pistol and rifle. I see Sierra 240 gr. at .429.5". Just follow book reloading data and use recommended powders and primers. Lots of different bullets from lead

bullets to jacketed and plated. I don't plink with 44 magnum and load jacketed hollowpoints for all my shooting whether paper targets, tin cans, or hunting.
