Have the opportunity to purchase a K31 in great condition, on face value, it looks unissued. Guy that has it got it from samco a couple years back. It was sold as unissued . We worked back and forth and he is at $600. What do you guys think? Too much? Appears $550+ May be the current going rate.

I've got 2 that were very clearly issued... So I payed much less than that a few years ago.

I seem to remember a batch coming up for sale somewhat recently that were unissued and commanding a premium price in that range your friend wants.

Curious to see what others say.

Seems the right price for NOS ....for me I would prefer a rifle to show its age and use for what it was intended for.

Same.  As long as it shoots well.  And my K31 shoots pretty well.

Whats the serial number range?  An early example in 'unissued' condition would command more than a late model.  Although I don't believe any K31s to have truly been 'unissued'.

Samco had "unissued condition" K31's on sale a while back.  I think it was ~$600 for a beech-stocked one, and ~$630 for a walnut.  I recall that based on some other reading I did, these were arsenal refurbished to like-new condition, or something like that.  I also recall reading that some had issues with bedding.  I picked up a beech one, but have yet to shoot it.  I'm not sure if I will.  It is interesting to see a K31 with a mostly-blued buttplate.

I would be tempted if it was actually new.  Not so thrilled if it was merely refurbished.

My K31 was about $175 IIRC, but was beat to hell with a yucky bore.

I paid $89 for mine in very good condition with a mirror bore....at that time I remember thinking that it would definitely be worth $600 in new/ unissued condition.

I'm skeptical of "unissued"

I think they were ALL issued, and then issued to the reserves afterwards.

I bet you have a refinished rifle

What are the odds you could get some pictures. 10 or 12 shots with a digital camera (non cell phone)?

He's asking what he paid from Samco.  Not sure what current market is.
