Once you've got both that kit and a Glock to match, you've got to register the Glock as a NFA SBR. So I don't see it being really popular.
How about this one? http://mechtechsys.com It's a carbine kit that fits Glocks or 1911's, with 16" bbl so no Form 1 needed. I guess if you really needed it to be a SBR you could whack the barrel off at whatever length you wanted. I have two Model 20's. All I am waiting for is for someone to build the happy stick mag for 10mm... 30 rounds of 10mm in a carbine would indeed be awesome. I just don't see it as worth the trouble in 9mm. |

Dude, don't leave me hangin' whaddaya think? FULL review Sir! How do you think I feel? :D ... Two more weeks :( (out of town now....) ... Right now I can tell you that the unit is very solid... Fits the Glock nice and tight. The stock locks perfectly in both positions. I cannot see the pistol rear sight when the stock is deployed as they are intended to but it could be due to the fact that I wear progressive glasses and my eyesight sucks. The Troy sights sits a tad high for a proper check weld but I think the will work (I have a set of SL-8 sights ready just in case I'm wrong on this) The "safety" folding VFG... Well, I did some transitions to handgun (both guns empty of course) and after a little practice I was able to fold it to make the KPOS safe as the first step of the transition since you will need both hands in the KPOS to fold it (I tried to use the weight of the KPOS and only my left hand on the VFG but I haven't figured out a workable technique for it....) I don't expect surprises from the Glock itself (heck, it is Gen 3 Glock 17!). I replace the standard controls ( mag release and slide stop) for extended ones and of course, the barrel is a longest (easily available in the use) I could find: lone wolf threaded for a 17L ... The other part replaced in the Glock is the end plate. The Fab Defense plate fits well and feels solid when operating the slide using it... Taking out the KPOS integrated FH was difficult ... Actually I manage to strip one of the screws they use to hold it in place. They used a strong thread lock compound! ... Other than that, installation is fairly easy Quoted:
Did you have to engrave your info on the frame? Where did you put it? Yes Sir... I did it under the trigger guard (actually fellow AR15.com member CS223 did it for me) My trust name was "designed" with that in mind |

Well... The fact that the integrated FH interferes with anything (barrel or slide) longer that and standard G17 ones was a happy coincidence because I hate how the integral FH looks... Indeed, if a 16" barrel is installed, then no stamp would be required... S (google Glock impulse Barrel and try to find it... used to be here but the domain is for sale)... I did some research and buying one of these barrels in Austria would cost me close to the $350 (not counting any import tax is applicable...)... On the other hand, the stamp plus the LWD barrel and HF were $350 (plus a 3 month wait of course....) click here for a sales ad in another forumfor a 16" barrel in .40... not mine! |

Just 50 rounds of WWB 115gr FMJ at 25m , standing unsupported... :)
Sshoots like a Glock, no malfunctions, KPOS feels as tight as before (no really expecting anything else after only 50rnds).... But my groups where ~ 1/4 of the size I get at the same distance with a "non-stocked" Glock 17 ... I've read reports of blowback gas in the face but that was not an issue for me... Perhaps because of the muzzle been outside of the KPOS instead of inside (like it is with a std G17 barrel + integrated FH) I like it and it is a keeper for me. Maybe a 4.5" threaded barrel , a can and some 147gr ammo i as my the next NFA project.... If you want to know anything specific, just ask.... |
| If I ever have $3,000 to shit out, I'd love to build one of these up with a full host of Lone Wolf parts and an RX06 on top. Slap a TiRant on the end and BAM, you have a quiet, accurate, reliable, concealable PDW that uses common parts, magazines, and ammunition. Ah, someday. A project like that is way out of my budget right now. |

You "could", of course. The likelihood of it causing you problems is slim to none. But should you? Probably not.
I notice you can order one of these off amazon.com. I doubt Amazon is going to ask for your SBR paperwork. Could you order one and leave it in the box until you're approved for a SBR? http://www.amazon.com/Mako-Glock-Carbine-Conversion-Folding/dp/B003OOBIH8 |
| No need of risking "constructive intent"... I watched the KPOS on online gun auction sites (better price than Amazon ;) for 4 months (1 while deciding to go ahead with the project and preparing the paperwork and 3 waiting for the stamp) and the price never were up and they were always out there... I used the wait to engrave the Glock and but all the other parts I used .... |
