I found a place locally that has some Korean M2 ball ammo on clips/bandoleers and am wondering if anyone can tell me whether or not this stuff is any good to shoot out of a Garand. What I'd really like is to get is some of the Greek HXP or Lake City stuff, but I am completely out of M2 ball right now and after calling CMP today I was told that they are at least 4-6 weeks behind on their shipping. I'm hoping that someone that has used this ammo can give me some advice and how it compares to the other ammo out there. Thanks...

EDIT:  Looks like the Korean is going to be corrosive, marked "KA 73", but they also have some Danish .30-06 on stripper clips, marked "AMA 60".  Can anyone tell me about this stuff?

I've shot about 300 rounds of the Korean PS headstamp and it shoots great.  I have heard good things about the KA headstamp too, but extra cleaning steps have to be taken to compensate for corrosive primers.  I've got a few hundred of the KA in the ammo locker, but haven't taken any to the range yet.

I love the Greek ammo. ammunitiontogo.com has both the Greek and Lake City stuff.

As for the Korean, in my experience it's ok. I've seen a lot of damaged and corroded rounds though. If you inspect the rounds first, and clean the rifle ASAP after shooting, Korean will do.

Thanks for the replies guys.  Anyone have any info on the Danish stuff?

KA=corrosive
PS=Not corrosive, however SOME lot numbers are known to have caused problems. There is a list of them floating around somewhere.

I've shot about a K of the PS stuff in a good lot #. I have no complaints about the ammo.

All I've seen for sale is the KA anymore, myself.

The Danish ammo pretty much disappeared before I got into Garands but everything I have read says it is some of the best M2 surplus out there. If I found any around here at a price anywhere near what the CMP is charging for Greek I would buy it.

I've gone though about 500 rounds of the Korean "KA"  and I have to say the my Garand loves it.

Shot a majority of it at a Appleseed shoot.  At 25 yds I was able to keep a five round group the size of a quarter or better.

Yes it is corrosive but, I goes bang like it's supposed to.  I still have a 384 rnds in clips/bandos sealed up ready to go.

Good stuff.  If you find it at a good price get it.

Buzz.

Well, I picked up some of the Danish stuff and it looks like really nice ammo.  It was priced at $25/60 rd bandoleer.  I got all they had, a little over 500 rds, for $30 and a trade for some old AK74 mags and some .40 cal pistol ammo.

All the ammo is marked "AMA 60", looks clean, is packaged in 5 rd stripper clips and has a kind of gold colored bullet.

Will probably get out to the range in the next few days, and if it shoots as good as it looks, I won't be dissappointed.  Thanks for the help everyone...
