| I'm new to .50 cal shooting and am seriously considering buying an LAR Big Boar, not looking to do real long shoots, just looking to shoot her at 300-500 yards. Does anyone have any reviews or input about the Grizzly's or a siiliarly priced .50 cal bolt gun. Thanks |

To start out with, the Griz is a shell holder type action and not a true bolt gun. What this means is that you remove the bolt from the gun, load a round on the bolt, insert it back into the rifle and then shoot. My biggest complaint with the Griz is that it has the worst muzzle brake in the industry. The rifle just beats the shit out of you, LAR needs to update it. They are good shooters and you'll have fun shooting it but you might think about getting a better brake. You can also look at the Serbu BFG, Serbu link |

No problems with the Sebu's, they have a quasi-cult following amongst the owners. I even have one of his universal receivers, waiting to see if he gets the semi-auto working before I get one. If anything I'll just get a carbine built on the receiver. Mark has updated the muzzle brake to the new "shark brake", it has improved the felt recoil by at least 30% over the old stlye brake. Plus he now makes his own M60 style bipod for the BFG, that way you don't have to search the net and hope that you find one. |
