Does anybody have pics showing what a light, medium and heavy crimp looks like using this die. Which crimp do you use on a bullet w/o a cannelure.

No pics.

No cannalure, I use a light crimp, about a 1/4 turn.

Looking down at a 30-30 FCD, had to take pics at an angle to get them to come out, notice the gap in the crimp collet with die at rest.

Better pic here, collets are closed about half way, a firm crimp. Don't crimp any more than this.

Firm crimp on top, no crimp on bottom.

Also, check out Infinitegrim's avatar for an example of a heavy crimp.

There are three different LFC dies.  Rifle, Autopistol, and Revolver.  They apply different styles of crimp.

Your right. I'm interested in rifle without a cannelure

No pic, but you would just want to see the 4 groves left on the case mouth.

Or look down into the die and watch the gap of the collets close up. About 1/3 closed wound be pretty close.

Another option is a taper crimp die.

The crimp die in my Dillon 223 dies is a taper crimp.

I believe Redding sells these also.
