I was in a shop recently and saw a LCW Predator.  It was less than a TAC 65 but seemed to have nice fit and finish.  Anybody have experiance with these?  How do they sound compared to a Pilot of a Warlock (the only Two .22 cans I have actually heard)

They have aluminum mounting threads, they have spacers and beveled flat washers for baffels, and they are painted rather than anodized.

In my opinion they are not worth the transfer tax.

Go with the Outback II, or AAC Pilot, or SWR unit, or better.

If you put water in it to shoot it will then sound about like the Pilot or SWR unit.

hello. i have one of the p-22s from lauer. for the money, it is actually pretty quiet. it was tested side by side against an outback 2 and we could not tell the difference. i have fired well over 5000 rds through it ( probably more ) and have had no problems at all. having a rear aluminum mount hasnt made a difference at all. the threads are still very tight. the best part is, if you need to replace baffles, you can get them at any hardware store. the finish is dura-heat. it has held up remarkedly well. i am going to buy 2 more of the silencers this spring. kirk

I can hear the difference between an Outback II or a Pilot and a TAC 65, so since these are cheaper and simpler design than a TAC 65 I am pretty sure I can hear the difference between a Predator and an Outback II.

That post linked, just turned into a GIANT conversation about nothing at all related to the topic.

I see the Lauer cans at the shows when I go (rarely), and they didn't look painted to me.  They looked pretty professional, and the vendors tended to be happy with them, however I'm sure their experience is very limited.

hello. lauers silencers are well made. unknown to most people, they are not made by them. they are only assembled by them. they are made by a well known manufacturer, but i cannot tell who it is.  lets face it, most silencer makers use one of two types that are copied from one maker to the next. they either use beveled baffles, or k-baffles, or a combination of both. i have yet to see any silencer out there, that wasnt well made. the reason some are priced cheaper than others is name recognition.  i happen to think the better silencers are the ones that come apart for cleaning such as lauers and johns guns. it all depends what you want it for. lauers is definately hearing safe and doesnt sound like a gun shot at all. plus it is less than half price of others out there for pretty much the same performance. kirk

WHY can't you tell what manufacturer makes the baffles, etc... for them?

Well they are painted, and I am sure I can find a group of people who can't tell the difference between a Hi-Point 9mm and a Glock 9mm. Those people will be perfectly happy with the Hi-Point.

So the original poster has to decide, now that he has the information to base his decision upon.

I'm sure it's an inferior product- I was merely saying it isn't terribly so.

I don't think people will be weeping over it.
