I just started reloading. I have the Lee Classic turret press system with the safety prime and Auto measure.

I found the "right" load for my rifles and loaded about 350 rounds yesterday.

My issue is that my Auto Measure is wasting powder. After i throw the powder and my press indexes, a few grains of powder tumble  to the ground.

Enough so that it is probably wasting 2 full loads over the course of loading 350 rounds.

Is this "waste" normal for the Auto Measure? Or am i doing something wrong here?

Thanks for the inout and ideas.

You're probably talking about 30 cents worth of powder over 350 rounds made.
That's not very much, to me at least. A couple of kernals fall out of mine each time, also with the Perfect Powder Measure.
I don't worry about it.

If it bothers you, you should watch it to see where the leakage is coming from and use some inginuity to find a fix for it.
I don't know or heard of a fix for it. Most powder measures leak a little bit.

Lee measures are known for leaking, esp with ball powder.
As far as other measures leaking, I must have been blessed, no leakage with my 40 yr old lyman, or my Hornady, or my Redding...

It really shouldn't be leaking that much.

It could be static electricity, which will decline as the graphite in the powder coats the inside of your measure.

Or, as I found in my case, you have the hopper on backwards. If you have the hopper on backwards you wind up with a little shelf where powder can catch. My hopper now has a label on the front so I don't make that mistake anymore.

Mine ppm does too.
I scrape it up and put it back in
#7 does it worse
Longshot barely at all
Trailboss- not at all

This. It will mount both ways but if you look on the bottom of the hopper, the hole is off center. Make sure the hole is closer to the hole in the disk.

I agree make sure all is connected tight and in the correct position first.
I have loaded the hopper on backwards before not paying attention.

I use the Lee Adjustable charge bar, not the disks and I get no waste from any powder.... very impressed and really easy to dial in the right amount by a simple twist.

thanks for all the input folks.

I'll try rotating the hopper 90* first then leveling it if that doesn't work.

A much easier way to accomplish the same thing is to disassemble the hopper and sand the base lightly on a flat surface. Usually when they leak it's because the elastomer wiper isn't getting a good enough seal on the disk. Sanding the base moves the wiper closer to the disk and creates a better seal.

If it makes you feel better, Eric aka Iraqveteran8888 put the disks on backwards in one of his videos. He handled it well. There was enough bad editing to make me think it wasn't staged.

I think we have all put the discs or hopper on backwards at least once.

You're welcome. Lee really should have a mark on the front of the hopper base. It took me a while to realize what the problem was.

I ran AA7 through mine last night for the first time. Had the same problem. If I tightened the hopper down where I thought it should have been, the disk would stick after every drop. Once I loosened hopper screws, reset was good, but there was a lot of powder here and there after 50 rounds.

That stuff is a lot finer than Longshot.
