I am looking at a new M1A and was wondering if anyone has any problems or regrets of purchase from being a left handed shooter?

Works fine.  It's about as close to an ambidexterous rifle as you could ask for.

Agreed! I am southpaw and have never had a problem.  ( just keep your thumb away from that charging handle)

I'm a lefty and never encountered a problem with my M1A's or my AR's, with the exception of hot brass on my right arm. No biggy though.

The M1A is the reason I gave up on Garands. Loading a clip into a Garand from the left shoulder in the prone position sucks.
The M14/M1A is a good way to go for a southpaw.
Even better much better than an AR.
I end up putting on an ambi safety and ambi mag release on an AR.
On an M!A, I just shoot it.
