www.statearms.com and www.ferret50.com both make lefty 50 BMGs.

So does Bluegrass Armory but I don't have their site in my head.

McBros makes several action variations including right bolt, right port; right bolt left port; and left bolt left port.  Not sure if they make a left bolt right port.

Really a standard right bolt, right port is pretty handy for a 50 BMG rifle since in all liklihood you will not be needing to work the bolt while holding the rifle (you'll probably shoot prone or from a bench).

Barrett M99s don't work well for lefties because your cheek is on the ejection port.  Same goes with virtually any bullpup type right-handed 50 BMG.

AR-50s (except for the very rare lefty variant that is VERY hard to find) are not lefty friendly as the bolt passes under the cheek rest and you can't convert it to lefty use very easily.

I hope this is helpful.

David is correct, we do make left handed rifles at no added cost. However, our bolt handle is forward enough that the bolt can be cycled without moving your head or breaking position (When shooting for accuracy, this is very important). Several of our right handed customers have left handed rifles as well as left handed shooters with right handed bolt. These customers prefer to use their non-trigger hand to cycle the bolt.

nmmi9100: While the Barrett M99 doesn't look like it's lefty-friendly, in actual use it's not a bad rifle at all to shoot lefty.   I've shot many different M99's when I used to work there, and to me, loading was easier lefty than righty.  Simply pop the bolt to the rear, toss in a fresh round with your right hand, close the bolt.. all without having to remove the shooting hand from the grip.

The M95, however, is a diferent story!!  I had to slide my cheek rearward to avoid being hit in the mouth by the bolt-handle, and the ejection port edge was pretty sharp.  Funny, I did my best shooting with a M95.  I put 3 rounds in 1 ragged hole, but the rifle was so damn uncomfortable to shoot I slung the last 2 all over the paper!!  I'm lucky I didn't shoot the floor.....

John:

I never thought of that.  Of course i'm not a lefty.  I just thought it would be a booger to get a good cheek weld with the bolt raceway down the right side.  Good to have an experienced southpaw check in!

Sure thing!! I worked there but left 3 years ago.   I've shot everything they made, and I found a comfortable way to shoot almost everything EXCEPT the M95.  You just have to scoot back a bit, and if the deburr techs(ahem...)did a good job, the edges of the bolt notch in the receiver should have a nice smooth, rounded edge to them.

I once put 150rds thru a rack of M107's in under 2hrs, but that's a different story!!

I just finished checking in and tagging a bunch of receivers I got back from the finishers last week and I have one left hand Ferret50 in stock. You are welcome to it.
