So it was basically the first day I had my Short barrel together today. Got the paperwork and barrel in the mail yesterday.
Well. I was sightin her in at the local rifle range which is at the state forrest reserve. Park ranger pulls up. THats a nice gun there can I see it(with his hand on his gun) I was like sure. He take the rifle and is like son your in alot of trouble short barrels are not legal and havnt been since the Brady campaign. I was like sir I have my atf paperwork in my pocket, they are legal and I am the only legal person to have possession of that rifle. Well after I made a call to the NFA they told him he has no right to take the rifle from me since I was breaking no law. Duh. Anyways to the real question. Could any LEO just take possession of my SBR? If they do arnt they technically illegally in the possession of a class 3 weapon? |

I'm sure the ATF doesn't care as long as he takes possession in official capacity as a LE officer.
Worst case example: You produce your tax forms, but he thinks they are fake so he takes the weapon as evidence and you go to jail until your lawyer, the judge, and NFA branch sorts it out. |

That would be some shit =/. Worst part about it is back where I live LEO are even less knowledgeable about firearms. Sounds like a scary situation |

make a legible 1/2 or 1/4 size copy of your form with stamp have it laminated and keep with you. Oh I have, I had a full scale copy of it in my pocket. I showed it to him and he acted like it was nothing, I was actually excited someone asked to see it after I paid 200 for it, then he was just like this doesnt mean anything to me |
