Anyone apply for one lately? How long did it take?
I got mine in 2008 after about a month long wait, but I let it expire this month so I had to reapply. Applications are getting mailed tomorrow. |

In the same boat:
Mailed: 3/25/11 Check Cashed: 3/30/11 Received: Not Yet Getting tired of being disappointed every day when I check the mailbox (this is worse than the wait when I ordered those 204 Revolutionary War soldiers for $1.98 from the back of that comic book in 1968). Before I sent in my app, I ordered my first Mosin 91/30 from a dealer...when I got it my jaw hit the ground! I've been buying CMP Special Garands at $1000 a pop...but the Mosin...here is a milsurp rifle (not counterbored)..with accessories AND bayonet AND sling in a like new laminated stock! The bore is excellent and it is accurate. The rifle is impressive in it's simplicity and has a shit ton of history behind it...all for less than $100 shipped!! I know I am "preaching to the choir" here but this C&R thing is gonna be great! I want more! |

My post from another topic:
-Mailed in March 8. -"Added into [their] system (according to the lady I talked to)" March 17. Been 53 days since I was "entered." Still waiting. According to 18 U.S.C. § 923(d)(2), they have 60 days from the date of application to approve or deny my application. However, the lady I talked to said the average turnaround time is "2 to 3 months." Perhaps I should send them an E-mail, making sure to note the aforementioned section of the U.S.C.? EDIT: Also, 27 cfr 478.47(c) mentions the 60-day limit. |

What is the email address you used? Thanks, Richard [email protected] Still haven't gotten the actual license yet. They said to contact them if it hasn't arrived by Monday. Hopefully the Post Office didn't lose it. That would really piss me off. |

Used the email listed above and sent it today (5/19/11) and recieved it back in short order. It stated that it was sent out on May 3rd and if I haven't received it by two weeks to let them know. Well obviuosly if it was sent out on the 3rd and today is the 19th that it has been over 2 weeks. I'd say that is there standard reply but they did give the date it supposedly went out. I'm gonna wait till Friday and email them again if I haven't recieved it.
Just check the mail and it wasn't in there, I sent a reply email back stating that it has been over two weeks and asked what are the appropiate steps to take for a replacement. Well taken care of now, they sent an e-mailed copy and will be dropping one in the mail. They are pretty quick with the e-mails (back and forth 2 or 3 times in an hour) and resolving issues. |
| About 3 months. I mailed mine at the end of January. Check cleared two days later. Never received anything so I called today to check the status, i was told it was approved April 4 and I never got it. She said a replacement would be in the mail tomorrow. Guess I should have called sooner. |
| Still waiting for mine. It's been over three weeks since it was reportedly mailed, and they've told me to "wait two weeks and advise," and then to "wait a week and advise." I just sent them another E-mail, making this situation more clear. Hopefully I get a different response this time. |

Still waiting... and to think I originally had this vision in my head that I would find my ffl in my mailbox within 2 weeks and could proclaim "Wow, that was fast!". Reality sets in. This sucks. Anyone notice that there seems to be a lot of instances lately of ATF claiming, when contacted..."you didn't get it? We sent it to you quite some time ago"?...I guess that "buys" them a couple of weeks... |

| Just wondering if how it is submitted affects the time it takes to process. In my case I charged it, populated the fields into the PDF that I downloaded from the ATF web site, printed single sided. Signed the two copies, and sent one to the local CLEO return receipt and the other to the ATF using the address specified on the form. Twenty-two (19 days for them to actually send it) days door to door. Do checks instead of charge cards take longer, do they they have to wait extra time for them to clear? If you fill out the form long hand, does it take longer for them to read and process it? Just wondering if there are any reasons for the difference of time frames. |

I couldn't take it anymore...on 6/7 I e-mailed them and asked if there was possibly a problem with my application that I needed to address. Later that afternoon , I got an e-mail from the examiner...she said there were no problems with my application, it was "in process" and they were extremely busy. She stated that she was not in the office that day but expected to issue my license the next day. I received my license just a couple of days later. Not sure if it was a "squeaky wheel gets the grease" situation or I just happened to inquire just as my license was about to be issued...I'm inclined to think the latter. In any event hope you get yours soon! |
| Mailed application on 5/13 and my card was charged shortly after that. I received a letter from ATF Document Examiner stating that I had forgotten to initial in one place :( and that I had 30 days to send the paperwork back. I was away on vacation so I didn't send it back until 6/23. I received my license on 7/8 and the big packet of information arrived 7/09 .......not too bad considering that I had a delay while I send back the paperwork. |
