Just came across several (small) cans of linked .308 - it's 200rds per can.

In three of the cans the ammo is head stamped '85 MAL.

One can has a ALL the rounds linked in a continuous belt and is headstamped R1M1 80.

Cans look like new, ammo is in (4) round links and is bright and shiney.

Can anyone tell me the origin and if it's worth $ .28 a round (considering the SA .308 is gone) ???

THANKS !!!

It would help if you would describe/the letters numbers on the head stamp or markings on the can. .

I bought a bunch of british radway green ammo in that format a couple years ago.  But it was actually kind of oily and dirty.

MAL =Malaysian. Pretty good stuff IIRC. I shot a bunch of Malaysian .223  and it was fine.

R1M1 is South African IIRC , good stuff too.

.28 cents each is current market. If you can find it at all.

I just bought six 200 round cans of Portuguese 7.62X51 for about the same price. It's still cheaper than buying Remchester ammo.
