You don't "amend" the trust to add a suppressor. State law varies, but in most states, you just write the item on the Schedule of assets and your trust now contains a suppressor.

Amending the trust is for changing the actual language of the trust or changing trustees/beneficiaries etc.

Hold on, so your saying I take a pin and write the stuff on my schedule A? All of a sudden its legit?

I thought we had to call the lawyer and have them add it or something.

You don't need the lawyer to add it for you, but you might want to ask him how to do it properly in your state given the wording of your trust.  You may have to list stuff like price paid, who you acquired it from, etc.
