A buddy of mine just gave me 100 55gr Sierra Blitzking bullets.  I don't have the Sierra manual because I 99% of the time reload Hornady bullets.  I checked the database up top but there weren't any loads for this bullet.  Any one with the manual have any loads for this bullet using H335 or Ramshot Tac and if so can you tell me COAL also.

Thanks

That should get ya started.

I saw that data myself when I was on their site.  But the bullet has a ballistic tip like a Vmax and Hornady has a different COAL for the Vmax compared to a SP.

So what?

if you start on the botton, as any careful handloader should, then it don't matter what the difference in OAL is.

Thanks for that.  You have been a great help.

I know what a careful handloader should do, but I just wanted the data from Sierra.  That is all.

Do you think Sierra's data will be substantially different?

You can always call or email Sierra.  The last time I was there they had four full time employees to answer the phones and emails with this sort of question.

After you load a while, you'll find out that there is a fair bit of latitude in COAL; if there is enough bullet in the case, you're good to go, pretty much, and if you have a 52 grain bullet (for example) that will tolerate loading out, then that's good to go, too.

Part of the hobby entails learning what to do in the absence of load data that doesn't match the components at hand.  Most of the time, they won't.

Sierra 5th Edition manual AR-15 data:
-55gr. Sierra Blitzking bullet #1455
-20" 1/7 AR 15
-Case Federal-primer Rem 7 1/2
-overall length 2.250"
TAC powder- start 24.7  2900fps--25.5  3000fps--25.9  3050--Max 26.3  3100fps
H335 powder start 23.6  2700fps--24.3  2800--25  2900fps--Max 25.7  3000fps
Bolt action data doesn't test TAC. OAL the same. Maximum data is higher using the same case and primer using H335. I don't recommend going higher than 25.7 grains of H335 but in bolt action data top charges were 26.6 at 3200fps and max at 27.5 gr. of H335 at 3300fps. Test bolt rifle was Rem 600 with 24" barrel.
