I just picked up a ruger LCP and I have a few questions about loading .380. If I remember correctly I saw a thread on here that talked about using a combination of 9mm and .38 dies to load .380. Does this ring a bell with anyone else or does somebody have a link. I don't plan on shooting this pistol often so if I can use dies I already have I can load a few hundred rounds to play with. If not I can get some dies when they come available.

Size and deprime with a 223 die
Use a 223 shell holder
Bell, seat and crimp with 9mm dies

Done!

I thought it was a quick fix but now the challenge will be finding bullets. I have most componants on hand but a quick serch didn't show many lighter bullets in stock.

Why can't you size and de-prime with the 9mm die too? I sometimes do this by mistake anyway when .380s get missed in my separating process.

The 223 body dimensions are similar to 380 than the 9mm, they identical but differ by about 20 thousandths

AssaultRifler's thread is what you are looking for.

2 places you can look, the tacked  "useful threads for answering questions", or the last 6 or so pages of this forum.

That is where all of the quality threads are that have been "toggled" and saved from going into the archives are.

Find the thread, make a post, and it will return to page 1.

Here's the thread, but I use 380 dies, but it's useful as an example of how to work up loads for 380ACP

Even better if AssaultRifler shows up, goes to MY Topics, and posts a link.
