So I ended up with my dad's .50x140x3.25" Sharps straight.

He liked to load it nitro express, with smokeless. This is fine, but I really want to start over and do this right. He is the king of "well, that should be fine" loading. Glad he is still here......

First, what weight bullet was the 140 number based on? I have many from 350 to 600.

Second, where can I find a load chart for smokeless powder in this type of gun?

Thanks. I am a very avid reloaded and have been loading for many years.

Is it a vintage gun, or a repro?  Maybe you'd be better off with pyrodex powder, rather than trying to turn it into a anti-tank weapon?

Repro, Remington Rolling Block, Navy Arms, about 1978 or so. Massive octagonal barrel, 30 inches.

I am going to use 777 to begin, but don't want to launch too big of a bullet with 140 grains of 777 or pyro behind it. Anti tank indeed! 600 grain Barnes turned brass solids are pretty big......
