Hey guys, I've done some searching and have not come up with anything.

Has anyone tried to use the Lock-N-Load® 30 Cal Conversion Kit similarly to the ever famous $28 bullet feeder?

For reference: https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_42/349969__28_00_Bullet_feeder_for_Any_Progressive.html

Basically, could I use the Hornady bullet feeder die and clear plastic tubing?

Curious if this has been tried.

I don't know why not.   I've never seen it done, but not a ton of people are even running the .30 cal setup and the ones that are have the collator.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Seems like the plastic tube solution would work.

I made a thread about it a couple years ago, I did the same for .223.
Very simple caliber changes, I can go from bare press to .40sw to .223rem to .308 in about 10 minutes. No messing around what-so-ever.

You don't need no damn switches or shut-offs or low bullet warnings because you can see the bullets on top of the die plain as day.

The 223 feeder works very well. I have no experience with the 30 cal as it does not work with some of the calibers I reload in 30cal (300BO, 30-30). So, I upgraded to MBF.

I do like that the Hornady die feeds AND seats the bullet. That is pretty sweet. But if you ever want to upgrade to something with a Hopper, why not try the same thing with the MBF die?

Those videos are exactly what I want to do!

I started off thinking about the MBF die, but I really liked that the Hornady die seated and crimped. (would prob skip the crimp and keep using the Lee FCD)

But what I'm hearing is that the 30 caliber doesnt work for 300 blackout, which is what I'm trying to accomplish.

I guess I'll have to settle on the MBF die.

From email response from Hornady in August 2014:
We are aware of the issues with the 30 caliber conversion and the so-called “short comings” and are working on a solution.

I am unaware of a fix but do get in touch with them before you give up. Perhaps they have a fix? I wasn't going to wait so I gave up on Hornady and moved to MBF.

As of today (4-22-16) the Hornady 30 Caliber Conversion Kit bullet feeder die does not work for 300 blackout.

They are considering making some sort of stem to make it work, for now now, its a no go.

thats disappointing as their feeding/seating die are fantastic. I would be in for one if they worked. It would be cool to attach to MBF hopper.

I wonder if increasing the stem length won't allow the bullet to drop?  It sounds like they took a look at it, and they just couldn't make it work.  Their only solution might be to

make a pistol bullet style dropper instead of the all in one.
