| I am looking into purchasing a rifle and scope that i can begin to learn and practice long range shooting with. I am looking to shoot at the 300 to 1,000 yard range. I know that is a big gap but you gotta start somewhere and I am not trying to limit myself at what I can do. I have alot of experience shooting rifles and shotguns but all within about 100 yards. What would you recomend for a good rifle and scope that I could learn and practice this skill with that would not limit me but allow me to start getting into this. I am not limiting myself to just an AR-15 so I am open to all sugestions. I know there are just alot out there and I am looking for oppinions on what would be the best for me. Thank you for any and all help! |

SKS with a $20 Chinese scope No, I shoot long range.....Your options are as deep as you wallet. There is a new single shot Savage...it's about the best deal for a starter. Most common on the 1000 at Camp Perry are...Tubb2000, Remington 700, Win M70....Semi-auto..AR10 and similar. I've shot the AR with a White Oak Precision upper and 80gr Bergers at 1000 without problems...but to compete, you need a little more juice. Find yourself a lightly used Savage 10FP in 308 with 24" barrel and an SWFA SuperSniper scope. |
