I am looking for a guide for cleaning the M1A/M14 in SAGE chasiss.
I want to give it the best cleaning I can without removing the chassis. Thanks. Mike |
| bore snake for the bore, ratchet chamber brush for the chamber, all you need. I think dewey offers cleaning rod guides that go over the flash supressor if you want to use a rod. As long as you can tilt test the gas piston and it moves back and forth, you don't need to dissasemble the gas system. remember no oil ever in the gas system, you should be other wise all set |

My M1a is bedded in a McMillan (sp) stock. All I do is use a Dewey bore guide and Dewey supplies. I do not pull the rifle from stock and I keep the sights down to keep oil and crap out of the piston, best I can.
OP read up on cleaning a bedded M1A, you should be able to apply the same tech to your rifle. With out pulling the stock I can remove the bolt if need be and drop the trigger group, basically clean all the major parts without fieldstrip. If your stock don't apply, then ignore my post. ETA Scott Duff has a book I used for years on M1a maintance. |
