| I used to own a Lee turret and I loved it. I had to sell it due to a divorce. Now I am looking at getting back into reloading. I will only be reloading 9mm and 223 and 308.I was looking at the lee progressive press so then I would just have to change out the dies and shell holder but the turret has worked good and costs less which means more reloading supplies. Are there deals anywhere this weekend. I tried to get the Hornady LNL at cabelas but they were out of them by time i got there after work that was 269.00 |

I went through this several years ago. I went with a Dillon 650 a haven't looked back. It's expensive, but I've called them with problems (some caused my be) and they just mail you new parts. The bad news, they never have any type of sale, and they never get any cheaper.
I'm reloading 9mm, 45, and .223 on it. I haven't started 300 blackout on my 650 yet, but since the weather cooled down I'll probably do it in the next few weeks. I have an RCBS single stage press and a Lee hand press. It's all good stuff, but I can crank out 100 9mm rounds in a little over 5 minutes on the 650: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLuz6tKI3Wk |

| I too am getting into reloading and plan on going with the lee turret. Mainly for the ability to have a separate turret for each caliber set up and ready to go. Swap turrets and shell holder and ready to do another caliber. Haven't bought the press yet been hoping for a black friday/cyber monday deal but havent come across anything yet. If you are wanting to buy the press separate instead of the kit the best deal I've found so far believe it or not is walmart.com. They show it for $99 with free shipping or free ship to store. I plan on buying separate because I've read complaints about the auto disk powder measure included in the kit. I will be buying the press separately and then buying the newer Lee Auto Drum powder measure to go with it. Just some food for thought. |

You can take the center twisted rod out of the LEE Turret press to convert it to a single stage. Even though I have a Dillon 550b and XL650, I still use my ancient LEE turret press now and then. the LEE Turret press is a good simple machine......the pro-1000 is a total piece of crap . |

I love my Classic Cast turrent. Yes it is not a Dillon, but it works and it is affordable for me. I can't do 100 rounds in 5 minutes. I can do about 200 rounds in an hour of 9mm. And I am old. |
The value has a cheaper aluminum base, and stamped/bent linkage. The classic version has a cast iron base, and thick cut steel linkage. Also I believe the classic version has a longer stroke with the ram, allowing larger cartridges to be loaded. The value kit comes with less acessories and comes with the Lee Auto disk powder drop instead of the Pro Auto disk.

The Pro 1000 isn't total crap... I mean, yeah, once it gets any kind of powder/dirt/dust on it, it starts giving issues, but once cleaned its good for a 45 minute run before needing cleaned again :D All seriousness, I started with a pro 1000 (still use it for 9mm), and if it does anything, it separates those who should have fingers, from those who shouldn't. Oh, and sometimes you get a loaded round. |

"Value" in fancy marketing lingo means "cheap". I'm sure it will get you by, but the classic is built like a tank. I'd swap it out if it were me.
