I just picked up my first ruger 10/22, and now I'm interested in making some up grades. To start off with i have a simple ruger 10/22 synthetic. First thing I would like to do is get a better trigger. Second is to purchase a target bull barrel, but I want to keep the weight down as much as I can. Third would be to drop the rifle in a solid yet comfortable stock.  Any suggestions as to where to start. I know there are tons of aftermarket accessories, but there is a lot of junk to avoid as well. Thanks for any suggestions.

Look through some of the threads for info on the Liberty Training Rifle.  Those are the best mods that I have done and they are pretty easy.

Hammer kit

Extended mag release

Auto-bolt release

1 1/4" Sling Swivels

The stock rifle will shoot great once these mods are done.  Upgrading the stock will depend on what kind of shooting you are going to do.  Try shooting a few thousand rounds down that barrel before you swap it out.  It will probably do ok for quite a while.

I'd put replacing the extractor up there as well. The Volquartsen made a big difference on mine.
