My dad gave my youngest his Winchester 190. A year ago we were out shooting and I dropped the spring tube while reloading. The follower got bent. Haven't had the gun out so thought I would take the follower out and straighten it. The follower is retained in the tube so I figure I will just hold with a vise grip on one end and bend back into place. Go outside carrying the tube to get a tool and then go over to pet my dog. Swing the tube up and down while out there and when I get to the shed.......the spring is hanging out! I couldn't get the damn follower out because of the crimp and then the damned thing just flys out on its own outside! I've combed the yard and can't find it. So it's either make a new one (I can turn it on a lathe) or buy a whole new tube set for $23+ shipping.
Anybody got a print or dimensions on this part? It's the little thing that is hour glass shaped, looks like a golf tee and floats in the magazine tube. |

My dad, too, has a Winchester 190. IIRC, the "golf tee" thing looks like it is made out of wood. IDK if it is made that way for a reason (to not damage the lead bullets) or if thats just what they had.
You can try to make one out of aluminum or something, but I would suggest just buying the whole tube assembly. I doubt you will be able to find some prints around for that part. If you want to keep as much of the gun "stock", you could buy the assembly and then take it apart, and just use the golf tee thing and try to reassemble it into your own tube. |
