I'm not a fan of buttons over knobs on NVGs since I find knobs easier to find and manipulate while wearing gloves although the big fat Katana button sure looks easier to find than the RNVG-A button... The Katana button is a helluva lot easier to manipulate than the ARNVG switch IMO.
On the earlier models of which I have two in my personal gear, they didn't have that little "cage" around the button. Many people assumed that it would be easy to accidentally leave them powered on because of that. As it was (and still is with the new cage) a hard push, I never experienced that and passing my Katanas to students at class, never seen it with others as well.
Katana R is a damn good choice in a dual tube set. Even the old school printed ones were pretty damn rugged, been running mine pretty hard for 3 or more years ago, one is even the first gen original with the printed dovetail which has never caused me an issue.
Hard to beat a real lifetime warranty on the housing also.
