I'm looking for an M14 barrel for a build.

Wanting a USGI chrome lined. Is there any real difference between the Springfield, Winchester, TRW, and H&R barrels?

What's the best source and current going price?

There is no difference among the 4 barrels you listed. The best place to find one is either on ARFCOM or the M14 Forum www.m-14forum.com. Prices range between $200 on the low end and $350 or so on the high end. Price is dictated by condition, throat erosion and muzzle wear measurements. Manufacturer makes a difference to collectors and those planning an all-mfr rifle. TRW has the mystique and you can expect to pay the most for that one.

Smith is doing chrome lined barrels. I believe LRB is as well

Criterion is the current manufacturer of chrome lined USGI profile M14 barrels for LRB, Fulton and a few other places.  I have two rifles with these barrels and both are very accurate.  Criterion, according to Krieger's website, is the button rifling division of Krieger Barrels, Inc.

I really like the Criterion 18.5 inch chromelined barrels, they are excellent. USGI barrels have gone down in price due to the availability of these new made barrels. I still like USGI, but finding a new one is very difficult.

www.lrbarms.com is also offering a medium weight chromium plated barrel in either 18.5 " or 22 " length.

Agreed, there were no substantative differences between the USGI M14 barrel makers.
