Will an M14 stock fit on my M1a?

Yup.

Yup.

Am I going to have to fit anything or screw with it? Will it just drop in? I don't even have my M1a yet it's still at the fun shop Waiting for my "cooling off" period to expire

Beat me to it, Lumpy.

Shouldn't have any problems with the fit. Only potential "problem" might be the selector cut out, but that's mostly a cosmetic thing. I filled mine with Magnum Steel epoxy, which works great (assuming you have a synthetic stock).

The selector cut is only a problem if you think its ugly or want to fill it to prevent sand or dirt from getting into the action.  Generally speaking, you can only fill it if its a fiberglass stock.  There are aftermarket M1A/M14 wood stocks that are cut without the M14 selector cuts.

My dad swears when he was in the Marines his M14 never had a selector switch on it

It had the selector link, but few were issued with the actual selector lever installed, having the lock shown below.

You can always buy a dummy selector kit from Hawk to fill the hole

Great idea! I just might do that...

Those things finish off a wood stock quite well IMHO

On the synthetics I like the cut out just filled and painter over.
