| If you were in the market for a RR M16 and you had the choice between a Colt AR15 conversion setup as a Commando, or a Sendra conversion setup as a M16A1, and they were exactly the same money and in the same overall condition, which would you chose and why? Let me add to the equation the fact that neither rifle would be used much with the .223 uppers, they'd mostly be used with a Spike's .22 upper or a Colt 9mm upper. Also, please don't throw things like DIAS's and LL's into the mix. I just want a face-off between the two above rifles. |
But, remember that an offset bushing could be used to take care of that problem very easily. The Colt has a lot of resale value- there is a lot of Pony collectors out there, and the name is a lot better name recognition. Also, Colt is still in business. In the past, didn't ATF allow damaged M-16 lowers to be replaced by the original MFG- I could swear somebody on ARF got a damaged vintage Colt lower replaced with a new one after it was irreperably damaged. I'm not sure if they still allow it, but even if they don't, it is still possible for that ruling to be reversed in the future. |
+1, but only if I could inspect the conversion and see how good/bad a job they did on the mill-n-drill before I bought it. I would also want to see how a USGI upper fit on it: loose/tight/not at all. Some aftermarket RR's are pretty bad, nothing like the modern CNC'ed Bushmasters and Rock River Arms pieces we are all familiar with. |
I would go Sendar, Colt collectors do not collect converted semi auto guns, the big front pivot pin is a pain in the butt. |
I was too dumb to read the word converted after Colt. I should have noticed something was up when people were passing over a factory lower for something else. |
