So I am trying to figure out what rifle I want to have as my "go to" rifle, probably get the most use and all, and also something that will be useful in a SHTF situation. I am kind of leaning towards the M1A Scout style rifle. It will have the SEI or the A.R.M.S. scope monut as I don't really care for the top rail system many have. 18" chrome lined barrel, standard flash hider, still trying to decide between wood or synthetic. I am leaning towards Fulton Armory for the manufacturer. I am looking for experiences with this stlye rifle, what you liked, what you didnt like that sort of thing. Accuracy, OAL, weight, things like that.

I have experience with the AR family, am on my 4th build right now, also have a Garand which I absolutely adore, and just wanted something different than the AR. I love the Garand so much that I pretty much decided to take a look at its little brother and think that it will fit the bill perfectly.

Try it for 500 rounds without a scope or scope mount.  If you haven't adapted to the iron sights, then put glass on it.  Use a standard contour barrel. Have the headspace set to 1.633 ", no more, no less.  For SHTF, go USGI fiberglass stock and a neutered flash suppressor instead of the factory muzzle brake.  Have Karsten paint up your stock the way you want it.
