Hello,
Looking for some info here on the possible value of an M1A I've had for several years. Due to some financial problems I may have to sell off some of my guns, the hunting rifles and such are no problem pricing but the M1A is a little different . It is a Springfield Armory Supermatch, that was built with all GI national match parts. It has a 1/10 twist Douglas heavy barrel. Action has been bedded to 2 different stocks, one stock is a standard walnut stock and the other is a McMillan heavy match stock. Both stocks have Turner Saddlery leather slings. The rifle shoots way better than me and has had less than 400 rounds put through it. Again all the parts on it except the stocks and barreled action are GI national match and it has been glass bedded to both stocks. Only detractor I could possibly see is that the McMillan stock must be an early model or something because instead of the standard M14 style buttplate it has an M1 Garand style buttplate. The rifle is in excellent condition and looks practically new. I have looked at new SA Supermatch rifles to try and get an idea about pricing but with the way this one is built and with both stocks I am abit stumped. Hoping someone here more knowledgable could offer some help on the possible value of the particular rifle.
  Thanks, your help is appreciated

I think your best bet is to look on gunbroker or some such place and see what a Supermatch is actually selling for and how quickly they are moving.

People generally don't want to pay a premium for extras bundled with the gun.  You really need to find a highpower shooter or maybe 3 gunner who appreciates the bedded stocks.

Might want to try a highpower competition board like NationalMatch.us and a 3 gun board like 3 gun nation above or BrianEnos.com.  Have to be members for Highpower and Enos.

CMP forum could be a good resource too.

Good luck.

I am in the middle of a similar situation, but I have been offered a trade on an AR that I recently built (it is still unfired).  I listed the AR for sale and was not interested in trades until someone offered a trade for a Springfield M1A.  The specs on my AR are as follows:

Spike's lower
CMMG LPK
Spike's branded ergo suregrip
Mako GL-SHOCKCP stock
Aero Precision upper
Standard charging handle
Daniel Defense 16" CHF 1/7 mid length barrel
Adams Arms mid length piston conversion with MP bolt
YHM phantom flash hider
Samson quick flip sights

He described his M1A as "pristine" with only about 350 rounds through it.

I feel like this would be a pretty decent trade with my rifle being worth about $1400 on the high end, but I figured I should come here and speak to the experts so what would you guys do???

Sammy, not trying to hijack your thread, but I figured the less threads the cleaner the forum.

I'd say somewhere in the $2K range for a Supermatch with McMillan stock and all USGI.  What is the serial number ?  Around 80000 is where they started running out of USGI parts.  The lower serial numbers get higher prices due to the USGI parts.

Is the McMillan stock on it?  I might buy just that stock if you wanted to split it out.

That seems like a very good trade for you as I am figuring that build cost you about $1100 at most?

Roughly

What do you think the m1a is worth in a fair cash price?

Whoops, didn't see the $1400 in your first post. I'm no expert but I would say if that if it is a standard m1a, then it is a pretty even trade. I think $1400 is just about how much it's worth, maybe a little more or less. I would do it, but that is just because I love m14's and ar's are a dime a dozen these days (plus, I'm no fan of piston ar's ). M1a's also seem to hold their value very well.

Ask at m14firingline.  That's were the M1A people hand out.

A Super match with good bedding is an easy 2K+.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I had forgotten about the M14 forum.
