I have a Springfield Armory M1A with a 3rd generation scope mount and it shoots great accuracy wise but it jams now and then It must be because of the scope mount because I can see brass scrapes on the inside of the scope mount at the top of it ... not to mention my buddy says a casing snagged it on its way out and went right back in as the rifle went to chamber the next round.

Does anybody have any experience with this and fixing it or could it be something else.

Need more on the detail of the failure.
Is it failing to feed
failing to eject
short cycling

Try without the mount and see what you get.

Seems to be failure to eject, it will have a casing crunched in the bolt. I reckon  the only way to tell for sure is to take the mount off and shoot the heck out of it.

It could be a weak ejector spring.

+1 to the ejector spring. If your pretty sure it's hitting the top of the mount and bouncing back in the way of the bolt than working on changing your ejection with a ejector spring replacement would be a good place to start.

Went to the range after taking the mount off and it fired great for the first 59 rounds then jammed on the last round on the third mag except this was a failure to feed. An entire catridge was pinched and bent the hell up. on close inspection of the mag I found a dent in the rear of the catridge holder thingy I figured that had to be it and fired one of the other mag and it ran through with no problem.

So right now Im thinking new mag and new ejector spring IF I want it to wear a scope. Or is it just that particular scope mount .. it seems SA should be good for SA but I have found some that disagree.
