Ok   I have my first M1 Garand and I have problems.

1) I cleaned the weapon complete top to bottom
2) After cycling the bolt and dry firing a couple of times I load a clip
3) Loaded a full clip and nothing the bolt stayed to the rear.
4) I did smack the operating rod handle with the heal of my hand to assist the bolt to close and lock…
5) Gun on safe I tried to pull back nothing I could not move at all.
6) I did get it open by slamming the butt against the ground why pushing back on the operating handle this did work…. I could eject up to 3 rounds from a clip like this until it would not eject the forth or so round.

WHY is this happening

psu,

1)  Did you GREASE your M1??  The M1 runs on grease, NOT oil.

2)  Did you push the clip in till it latched??

3)  Did you put the follower assembly in backwards???  Check the photos in your manual.

Best,
Swampy

Virtually ALL M1 rifles require that the bolt be bumped with the hell of your hand to chamber the first round.
Very few M1's will completely chamber the first round without the bump.

On the M1 rifle, oil or liquid lubes are to prevent rust.  GREASE is the lubricant.
The M1 cleaning kit includes a small plastic jar of grease.
You can use most any good grade, water and heat resistant grease, and hardware store Lithium grease is great.

I have no idea why the chambered round would not extract without force, unless it's a damaged round.
CLEAN THE CHAMBER.  Buy an M1 rifle M3-A1 Maintenance Tool with an attached chamber cleaning brush or buy one of the later issue ratchet-type chamber brushes.
Use the brush to scrub the chamber of all old grease or fouling.

You can buy the M3-A1 Maintenance Tool from several surplus sources like Fulton.
The tool is REQUIRED equipment for the M1 rifle.  It's used to make all adjustments and disassembly of the M1.

Check Fulton's web site for the tool:
