Hello Guys,

I dont have a Hornady manual but do have approx 300 #3037 147g FMJ Hornady bullets I need to load using HXP Greek brass with IMR 4895, was thinking after looking thru the manuals I have would be somewhere around 46-47g of powder with a OAL of 3.300" to use in my M1

Thanks

Hornady 8th Edition didn't test that bullet with IMR 4895. They used H 4895.  The M1 Garand section lists an overall length for bullet 3037 at 3.185". I've shot them at that length in 3 Garands and they fed and functioned fine. I've loaded them with IMR 4895 in RP and HXP brass from 46-47.5 grains using RP 9 1/2 primers. At 47.5 grains they are accurate in my rifles.

I'd just work up from say 45 to 48 grs of 4895 and see what your rifle likes.  If you have a chronograph, you will be able to see what your velocity is and how much powder to dupe M2 ball.  Of course, a lighter charge might be more accurate in your rifle.

47.1-47.3 is what I use for to dupe M2 ball. I use a 150 SST instead of a FMJ bullet though. Shoots great!

This is basically a condensed list of the M1 loads from American Rifleman.  I've used several of the loads mentioned with Sierra Match Kings and IMR 4064 and achieved excellent results.  My Garand seems to like the 175 SMKs.  Good reference material, but as always work up your loads.
