I have a Springfield Garand that I put together with a kit and a FAC barreled receiver. It looks and functions okay but the op rod jumps out of the groove on the side of the receiver for some reason. Anybody ever seen this problem? Panzer Out |

If your op rod is from a kit it may be out of spec, specifically the lug that engages the receiver may be worn out. Also the book says to check your op rod spring for kinks. Hope this helps. Edited to add that you may not necessarily have to buy a new op rod. Reputable M-1 guys like Orion7, Fulton, etc will repair a worn op rod lug by adding weld metal and shaping it to the proper original shape. |

I had the op rod on my T26E1 (7.62mm "tanker") repaired by the welding of some more material on the tab. A fella by the name of Ivan did this for me at a nominal cost. He left it oversized so I could hand fit it to my receiver from the drawings he included. Works perfectly now. I've lost his Email and full name and hope he reads this! -- Chuck |
