| Does anyone have a good M1 load? My range has a battle rifle shoot and I would like to try my M1 out. I have the items needed to reload 30-06. I have Win 760 powder on hand. What bullets would you recommend for shooting out to 300 yards at targets? |

Well you could always go to a match bullet and expect better results or you could just go with some cheap FMJ's and expect about the same as surplus, maybe better if you get lucky. Not sure on your powder selection as it may not fall in the preferred pressure curve of the M1's specs for the oprod. Try a search for M1 Garand Loads here and see what you can pull up. A few guys have posted some nice data in the past. |

Win 760 is not a recommended powder for a M1 Garand. Powders in the burn rate speed of IMR 4895-IMR4064 are powders recommended.
Here's a site with some loads for the M!: http://www.alabamaservicerifleteam.com/id17.html Note they say reduce by 1.5 grains in some cases. 47 grains of IMR4895 is a good load with 150 fmj bullets. For a match bullet the Sierra 168 Match King bullets are great. Depends a lot on your rifle as to what it might shoot best. |

I used W760 in my Garand for years. It never did any damage. That said, I no longer use it for the M1 because I don't want to push my luck any furhter.
I bought some IMR-4895 and some H-4895. I also bought some of the "mil-spec" bullets from Widener's Reloading. I have settled on a load yet but 46 to 47 gr of either looks like a decent recipe. |
| There is a good article and some good info on how and where to start here |

Garand load–– ( 200, 300 and 600 yards ) ( 3 deferant Garands and my 1903A1) ( moderate but very accurate with single loading and rapid fire ) ( magnum primers are more consistant with this load and the # 34 is a magnum primer) ( Magazine length varries with brands of enblock clips, ( 3.15 to 3.40 )) ( comercial cases require a little more powder to stay in the middle of this sweet spot ) ( sweet spot ( node )for 155gr Sierra Palma ) LC case ( have also used Nosler and Greek HXP ) 155 gr Sierra Palma 45.7 gr IMR 4895 CCI # 34 primer COAL 3.300 ( no crimp) |

DBCL????
Loads that work really well are with the same 4895 and LC cases; go to 45 grains with a 168 grain bullet from this http://www.zediker.com/downloads/14_loading.pdf |
