Both the CMP and AIM Suplus have M1 refinished/rebuilt for around $1000. Which one is a better value?

CMP of course.  What's the pedigree of the AIM rifle?  It looks like they are redone by James River Armory or some such outfit and then sold.  Just speculation, I don't know for sure.  Do the AIM rifles have import stamps?  The one I saw on the AIM site had a fake cartouche on the stock.....

I like AIM and spend a fair amount with them on milsurps and ammo. That said, I would rather put my money into the CMP so that it goes to shooting sports like the Camp Perry competitions as well as junior shooter training.

You'll need to buy one of each to determine that.  Remember that CMP profits are used to promote civilian marksmanship.

They are the same rifle.  Not sure if you get the Turner Saddlery leather sling with the one from AIM.

CMP is out of Special Grades unless you travel to the stores...there may still be a small handful on the racks.

I have two CMP Special Grades.  They are jaw dropping gorgeous.
