Has anyone had a chance to use, or take a look at one?  If so, is this a good can for non-auto, "now and then" plinking?  Does the lower cost materials equal a lower  quality can?  I would like to get something that would last for many years of shooting and while not taking a shotgun to the old bank account.

Thanks for the input.

I don't own one, but for your purposes, it will do great.

you could do worse.

unless you plan on beating the crap out of a .223 can with lots of FA short barrel fire it should work fine. just look around and see what most others are made from.

ETA : if the M4-1000 sounds like the 2000 then I think you'll be happy with it .try to listen to a couple first before you buy if possible.

ETA 2 : to remove useless crap.

You will be well served with the M4-1000, of course you could opt for a silencer made by a company who has built one prototype, been in business for less than a year but probably will promise that thier product is just as good.

One of the best with no competiton in its price class period.  As posted elsewhere on this site, the M4-2000 from last year was one of the best cans around.  AAC took the "goodness" and packaged it in a suppressor with appropriate materials and an appropriate price for a recreational shooter.

What qualities do you want to pay for?  Are you going to do destruction testing with a 10 inch barreled M-16 doing several Beta mag dumps?  Are you even going to shoot it on a registered Short Barreled Rifle?  If you are using a regular AR-15 this suppressor will hold up just fine.  If it doesn't for some reason, AAC will be around to take care of you.  Again, please see my other post on this can for additional reasons why I think it is built very well.  I will also note that it isn't the only good can "out there" but, it is hard to beat at its pricepoint.

What other suppressors are you comparing this one against?

If it's against the YHM suppressor, for me it's a "no brainer" because of the materials used and general construction techinque (again - lots of M4-2000 goodness and stainless steel versus carbon).

There are a lot of good suppressors available for the same general application as the M4-1000.  It has a lot going for it with AAC backing it as the manufacturer and its great retail pricepoint.  The other good options I would choose all cost more money.  If you don't need those features you will get a lot of value with the M4-1000.

Is it the best one at this retail pricepoint?  I think so.  YMMV
